Installing a 170/80/15 rear tire on a Magna V45, 1993 to 2003 as far as the brakestay rod only mod. Needed is to install tire and rim leave off brake rod till done. Install rod - clearance is only 1/4 or less mark install stock rod and measure rod about 3" were contact could be made to side of tire.
Remove rod from bike and anvil round rod in the area. That you marked to flat still plenty strong and clearance still better than 1/2 in just in case a low tire comes around or flat reinstall rod and thats it! Works perfect. No need to buy a custom rod to space it out and don't look bad either. Save your self $60.00 bucks
